Bring Moisture Back to Dry Skin with Solvaderm

It is that time of year that people start to suffer and complain from dry skin. The is that some people suffer from dry skin all year round. Dry skin is a condition where the outer layers of the skin are deprived of oils and moisture and are dry. As we are exposed to the elements and as we age our skin loses its natural moisture, so it becomes more and more difficult to maintain moist skin.

There are ways to help soothe dry skin and of course there are products available like Solvaderm’s Dermaxsol that can help soothe the symptoms of dry skin and help keep skin looking and feeling its best. Below are some tips to follow to beat dry skin

Warm Showers Only
Hot showers may feel wonderful, but they are super drying to your skin. The hot water strips your skin of its natural oils and the natural oil barrier which helps protect your skin and keep it from drying out. Be sure to limit your showers to about five to ten minutes.

Cleanse with a Gentle Cleanser
You want to be sure to use products that are detergent free and also fragrance-free. Choose body soaps that are gentle and be sure to wash your skin gently – don’t scrub too hard.
When you are done be sure to apply moisturizer to the slightly damp skin so that you trap moisture in.

Protect from the Sun
Too much sun exposure can lead to a multitude of skin conditions including dry skin. So be sure to cover up and wear sunscreen every day. You should also avoid prolonged exposure to the sun especially during peak sun hours which are 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. You should also add an extra layer of protection if you are going to go out in harsh cold conditions.

Moisturize, Moisturize, and Moisturize
It’s super important to moisturize each and every day. Be sure to apply moisturizer to your skin after you bathe or after washing your face and hands. A good moisturizer will protect your skin from the harsh elements and will also keep your skin looking and feeling its best.

Add Humidity
The cold winter months are the worst for dry skin sufferers. It becomes a vicious cycle of keeping your house warm but also drying out your  skin. Using a humidifier in your house can really help with your dry skin. You can keep the humidifier in your bedroom overnight and aim to keep moisture levels in your home/room to about 50%.

Hopefully, these tips will help soothe your dry skin especially during the up and coming winter! You should see some relief within a couple of weeks if you follow the tips above but check with your dermatologist or skin care professional if you are still having symptoms. Also, be sure to check out facial moisturizers by Solvaderm so that you can protect the delicate skin of your face and neck. Visit their site to learn more.
